Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

St Ann's Road Building Singled Out for Special Award

Just beyond Harringay's borders, the Triangle Centre recently scooped a prestigious Civic Trust Special Award . If you'd like to take a close look at why, it's one of 20 Haringey buildings throwing open its doors at the the London Open House Day on the 19th of this month.

But if you get fired up by quality in the built environment, you might also spare a few minutes to browse through the other award winners in this year's Civic Trust Awards. There were more than 27 in London.

They include, the Kew Treetop Walkway and Rhizotron:

When you go to the new Triangle Centre or any other Open House buildings please take a camera. And consider posting your best shots online. Flickr still offers a free account for up to 200 photos. (A subscription - unlimited photos - is $25 pa.)

There are Flickr groups for photos taken in:
Harringay - by Harringay Online.
Haringey Borough.
Tottenham
The River Lee & Lee Valley
And because Hugh mentioned it:
Kings Place.

With hundreds (thousands?) more groups. So you can share your pictures and see what other people are taking.

Sadly, the Council's staff now appear to be blocked from seeing what the borough looks like beyond their offices. Perhaps the photos of dumping posted by Liz, me and others have proved too 'dirty'?
Interesting. So that we can keep this post focussed on buildings, I've added another post about the Flickr issue. If anyone has comments on it, please add them to the new post.
The playground at the back has just been revamped and is one of my childrens favourites. Downside- no cafe - but you get to see lots of chasidic jewish kids running around - which is always good for a bit of people watching.
Not if you're a man it's not. Look at a kid for more than two seconds and you're a paedophile.
