St Annes Hospital
Went the other Day for a Xray
No one waiting - Great Service
Walking through - as went by Bus as has Parking restrictions
And Limited Paitent Parking
Notice All the Cars - many seemed to be leased cars
Seems a very large number of people work @ this Hospital - Mainly Mental Health
Aware that it does not have many Patients - seems mainly to be administration
Makes you wonder what Value to they Give the Borough & Nation ?

I'm a great fan of St Ann's.
Amongst other services they offer:
Physiotherapy; Audiology; Outpatient services for Moorfields Eye Hospital; District nurses; Inpatient and outpatient mental health services for East Haringey; Psychological therapies; Eating disorders service for NE London; Paediatrics; Diabetes clinics; Integrated therapies for stroke/Parkinsons/head injuries and palliative care for those with advanced terminal illness.
Ramshackle and sprawling it may be, but useful - hell yes.

One of the good things about St Ann's is how they at least keep the grounds in good shape, even if they can't manage the older buildings. It's a lovely place to arrive by bus and wander around with all the greenery and the sense of space is so relaxing for a medical facility. I've been twice with my father: the Moorfields Clinic which was an absolute nightmare - many more patients than they could handle, just dreadful - thankfully we got referred from there to Moorfields proper which is also a zoo; the audiology department which was great - seen quickly, good staff, no wait, no hordes.
If you wonder what goes on there, just look at one of the map boards they have positioned around the place. The more appropriate question would be: what doesn't go on there.

St Anns has mental health wards and secure wards for all of haringey, not just east. Also, most important of all, emergency reception - 24 hour access to psychiatric care for all of haringey. You can just turn up or call and you willbe seen. It is also home to one of the new IAPT teams - for central haringey - 'Increased access to psychological therapies' where anyone with mild-moderate symptoms of depression or anxiety can access a large range of treatments, including computerised cognitive-behavioural therapy, one-one therapy, or problem-solving/sign-posting.
Specialist psychological therapies caters for all of haringey for complex non-psychotic mental health.
It is fairly likely that the wards will be moved away fom St Anns at some point to another part of the trust (Barent Haringey & Enfield Mental Health trust) but this has not been confirmed and will be a while coming if it happens.
