Spirit of '45

It's rare that I shed tears of helpless laughter.

Lots of people I know who've seen it either love or hate Ken Loach's film: "The Spirit of '45".  My partner Zena was crying in many parts. I was moved by the early sections and especially the very touching interviews about people getting council housing and the founding of the NHS. But I wasn't convinced by Ken Loach's final section.

The laughter came this morning when several astonished friends emailed me with the news that Haringey's Dear Leader Cllr Claire Kober was due to speak on "the Spirit of '45" at the Labour Conference in Brighton. Was she perhaps talking about Yalta? Was it someone's spoof email? No it seems to be the real thing. I do hope they video the session so we all can enjoy the satirical cabaret.
