Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I intend to vote, but I'm not sure I'm clear about my choice. What about you?

The Electoral Commission has produced a short(?) video to explain the difference between the two voting systems.

But I'm not sure how much that helps.........

So how what are the arguments? Campaigners in the referendum will, of course, be only too happy to explain why they think you should vote 'yes' (to use the 'alternative vote' system) or 'no' (to continue using the 'first past the post' system).

You can find out information about these campaign groups at:

Still no good? Try the quiz at who should you vote for or the Electoral Commission's booklet (attached below).

If none of that works, aaaw the hell with it, go flip a coin at random.org.

Really?

Amazing!

I thought no more than a few hundred people would bother walking down to the polling station for the miserable little compromise. Never mind. Anyone who's rejected by the voters can still hope to get appointed a Lord or Baroness.

Haringey

Yes : 30,310 (56.62%)
No : 23,223 (43.38%)

(Turnout: 35.62%)

So Haringey voted Yes....

The only other districts to vote "yes" were Glasgow Kelvin and Lambeth.

In an FPP election the YES party would have three seats and the NO party would have 647 despite the YES party having 31% of the vote. Nice one Britain.

Not quite all. As well as Haringey, Glasgow Kelvin and Lambeth, there was also Edinburgh Central, Camden, Hackney, Islington, Lambeth, Southwark, Oxford & Cambridge

I used this useless newspaper to get the results and they don't even have those places listed. The fact that they later updated it here was not much good to me.

Oh well Liz, 639 - 11.

Democracy is too important to be left to the people.
I see that there were only 440 voting districts... 429-11. If we'd had PR the result would have been 312-128...
Isn't it time we split this schizoferous Borough in two, with the border running up the middle of Wightman Road. I just know the OAE residence belongs in there with Highgate & Oxbridge.
