Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi all, not sure if anyone else has the same issue but we have had people sitting on our door step smoking crack quite a few times recently, even in broad daylight. Attached photo taken from our doorbell. More of a warning than anything else. We are at the bottom of Hewitt Rd.

It's definitely been worse since the first lockdown. It's rare not to see either dealing or smoking in a week. I'm not sure if Hewitt is especially bad because of its location but looking at the comments it's probably not. It's pretty depressing really and is certainly encouraging us to think about selling up. I have reported it to the police.

From my observations of the behaviour around Chestnuts and Downhills Park users who I have seen outside Barclays begging for money will walk to the parks to collect from a bicycle or e-scooter dealer. I assume because there is no CCTV to capture this. The same happens with users begging outside Sainsbury on West Green Road. They will come to the park to collect. The problem when they use is as we have seen they will go to peoples gardens and other private spaces - like our communal bin store. I understand from another post that dealers are making exchanges in Fairlands Park. I would expect the behaviour to match what I see my side of Green Lanes.

The problem is growing and it is leading many residents to be very fearful in their own homes. The activities make attending the parks a scary experience. This is made worse when needles are left in easy to spot locations.

I know that the bike thefts are all part of this.

Yeah... It's the same on St Ann's Road... Soooooo many drug deals I've' seen. People hobbling out of houses on St Ann's road, hop in the backseat of a car, 2 secs later, back out and in their house again... And seen a few in chestnuts too... Annoying when you have two small kids, live on St Ann's, and take them to Chestnuts... not ideal.

Depending on your budget you could try a video doorbell and/or cheap camera to either put inside b on your window sill or mount on the outside wall. We have one and has really helped.
