Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

There is a skip without a licence on my road filled to the brim with rubbish dumped by people who don't live around here. They just drive up and empty their rubbish in the skip and drive off. Stuff is put next to the skip or lying around on the pavement in front of the house. People are rummaging through everything to find something thereby dropping items on the road and pavement. It's a disgrace.

The skip is unlicensed and building work being done by the owner of the property is unlicensed too. I checked, contacted the council but they never got back to us.

Meanwhile 5 months have passed and the former HMO is being converted into a 5 flat property in an already very busy road with almost no parking space.

The owner is the co owner of Harringay 's most popular Turkish restaurant. He doesn't live here and clearly does not give a toss about what's happening.

For years we have been fighting for them to not dump rubbish or mattresses on the pavement for the drug dealing from the property to stop, but the council doesn't take action and this keeps on happening.

What can we do because this is getting to a point where we, the neighbours, are losing our minds.

My current view is of a skip filled to the brim, overflowing rubbish on the pavement and I have had to close the curtains in our front and bedroom to stop getting annoyed about this.

Grateful for any advice.

I am and have been boycotting this restaurant for years obviously because they are definitely not getting a dime from us.

Under Environmental Protection Act. Local Authorities that fail to enforce the Act can have legal Action taken against their office.

Why are the Local Press not got been covering the issue ?   Surely not worried about looking at threat of looking  advertising

Might also worth talking to TV stations. Who seem more interested in Local issues

A few pictures of the mess on forum boards might same others to the similar cases in Our Borough

Hi, Zena has usually been able to, try sending her an email via the forum

Thanks I might try her today yes. Have to dig out her contact details.

Any councillor can be emailed via the simple email formula of firstname.surname@haringey.gov.uk. In this case zena.brabazon@haringey.gov.uk.

Local councillors can be very helpful.

Would suggest you get in touch with Seema Chandwani it is her remit in the Council.

Thanks.. My other neighbours have emailed Zena this morning so let's see what she suggests.

Well mr. G sells plenty of doner kebabs with his huge queues so I'm sure he can afford a licence or fine. Let's see what Zena says.

Thought it was in Haringey ?

Years ago I have powers to remove them on site if not licensed, same as building supplies on Highway

I used to give them time to go to office and get a license

Called many site managers bluff , when advising delivery firms No License, so if the dropped it they was liable

Still believe a few Pictures will wake someone to do their paid duty

As understood the Borough was Run for All and not just those in favor

Our neighbours got a reply from Zena just now and she is on the case. Thanks for suggesting!

Great, hopefully Zena can get someone at the council to pull their finger out

With the compliments of Gok. restaurant.
