Single line error, being asked to pay £500 to remedy!
I recently complained about a single yellow line, positioned in error on my road when it was made a permit parking zone. The line sits in front of a former garage which was converted into a house ages ago and certainly well before the zone was introduced. There is absolutely no access requirement so the line is redundant and we're a bay short on a congested road.
When I wrote to query the space recently, I was told it was there because the pavement was lowered when it was a garage and that the only way a bay could be installed was if I paid £500 to have it raised. The bay is not in front of my house. I have since sent photos of various lowered pavements in the area which sit in bay parking areas and copied in our MP.
It seems incredible that the planning team could mess up and then bill a local to change the situation to what it should be...if anyone has any experience or photos of similar set ups, I'd love to know.

The lowering of kerbs is outsourced to a firm who are also responsible for putting up barriers of people who break down their front garden wall but refuse to pay for the kerb to be lowered. This is usually called extortion but it's OK if the government do it because otherwise there would be chaos...
