Hello
Not wanting to scaremonger but in light of the recent sightings and attempted burglaries along the Ladder, I wanted to let everyone know of something I saw along the river two weekends ago. Having being burgled myself in December, I've become more weary of seeing people acting oddly around the area.
It was on the afternoon of Saturday 10th March at around 5.30pm. Two white men, both around 5 ft 7, one wearing a brown jumper/jacket the other a navy blue jumper/jacket (one looked young - late teens/early 20s? and may have had blond hair), jumped the bridge on Umfreville Road onto the river bank and walked up towards Lothair Road North. There they looked around by the railway line then crossed along the line and looked around the bank and gardens on the other side. They may be innocent, but they didn't look like official rail/waterway people to me. They then disappeared whether along the railway line or down Lothair Road, I don't know. The police were around at Lothair Road North within five minutes of me calling which was brilliant, but sadly didn't spot them.
As I said, they could be innocent, but I thought it would be worth high-lighting. Not wanting to scare everyone but homes along that river are sadly vulnerable as it's such an easy escape route for burglars.
Thanks

I think you are right to share this info as I know that the recent attempted burglary on my flat occurred a few days after burglaries on Umfreville and Burgoyne so perhaps the south end of the ladder is being targeted. There is no harm in keeping an eye out and telling others - its not scaremongering just sharing information.
