Hi all,
Does anyone remember the cycle shop (on the left just before the bridge going towards Manor House)?. Got my first bike there, a Claude Butler. Was that also the name of the shop?

This thread might jog various memories, Roy.
My mum bought me a second-hand Claude Butler from that shop around 1957. Loved that bike!
Geraldine, Just seen your thread. My Mum did the same the year before 1956. Only difference mine was new, but like you I loved that bike. Can remember the first ride out was up the Cambridge Road to Wormley and back. Great,
Yes it was on the corner of Burgoyne Road. My parents bought me a Raleigh Rodeo 20” frame bicycle for Christmas in 1959 when I was 4, and I think it cost £12. There also used to be an open greengrocer’s stall on this corner.
There was also a bicycle on the corner of West Green Road and Belmont Road and you can still see the outline of a man on his bike on the brickwork - this was an enamelled advertising sign.
Wow, didn't know that, will take a look
On the corner of Burgoyne? You mean there was another bike shop on Green Lanes in Harringay, other than the Claud Butler one ( which was almost opposite the corner of Burgoyne)?
Yes Hugh I also remember that shop. Not so well laid out as Claude Butler's but you could buy almost anything in there to do with everyday cycling.
