Haci Ulger, who has owned the store since 2004, said he had been unable to sleep following news of the attack and had visited Mr Ozlu in hospital.
He said: "The good news is Aziz is still alive, but this is a terrible thing to have happened. It makes everybody feel bad. It gives the place a bad character. And this is just one of many robberies that has been happening in this area.
What? Are we missing something here or is this poor bloke just saying this to make himself feel less singled out (sorry Haci but it's probably just your proximity to West Green Rd).
The corner shop on Wightman Road opposite the mosque was subject to a very violent hold-up about a year ago from memory. And the Coral on Green Lanes going back further. But that's just the ones we hear about (generally because they involve firearms). I suspect there is a lot more low-level stuff we never hear about.
Oh come on - don't be ridiculous - whilst it's not as gentrified as some (most) of the ladder roads, you are still very, very unlikely to encounter random trouble on West Green Road.
Sadly if you run a shop then you are at risk from robbery, and from time to time it may be violent as it was in this sad case.
I don't think people should avoid any roads in our area because of a perceived risk - this just unnecessarily heightens fear.
I also spoke to them to offer sympathy. I am getting a card from my road. They talked about the terrible shock and that bullet went thro his neck. Ambulance crew had thought they cd not save him. He is lucky 2 b alive.
