I'm quite interested but not at £40 a go! I could get a full meal plus wine for 2 for that from many of the local restaurants!

Nice idea, but this is Harringey not Chelsea....we're not that rich!

Hugo have you considered a night that may be more affordable to the poor locals of Harringay?  Perhaps something involving  cans and bottles of this, this or this. Something we are more accustomed to? lastly do you have a an area we can tie up our  pit bulls, fight, vomit, piss and sleep? Hopefully but not necessarily in that order?

You're welcome to your opinion, but I think forty quid in fact represents excellent value.  You get a line-up of seven excellent (and expensive) Sherries, covering all the classic styles of the wine, all of which are accompanied by really decent snacks to go throughout the evening (not just a few dry crackers).  Last but by no means least you also get a thoroughly researched and painstakingly produced lectured guide through the world of Sherry, something that took me about a month of work to prepare.  You end up with an really good understanding of the mysterious world of sherry and all its styles, hopefully presented in a fun but educational manner.  I'm a fully qualified and accredited wine educator and also a judge in the Sherry section (amongst other sections) of the International Wine and Spirit Competition (that award the medals you see stuck on bottles of wine in the shops).  Just buying the seven Sherries by the glass in a bar would cost about the same, without any of the snacks or the professional education.  Personally I think the price is snip.

 

But beyond all I've said above, when I'm working really hard to try and make an honest business out of this (I'm a full time wine educator, it's not something I do in my spare time), when you make comments like that you could be discouraging other people from taking part.  You're not obliged to sign up after all!  I've been running courses like this out of my house in Pemberton Road for about a year now and I've been full up every time, for both six week courses and one-off evenings.  So it seems there are plenty of people in Harringay that realise what value for money I offer and what a fun evening they can have.
