Selling home on ladder

Anyone here have experience selling their own home without using agent? 

I did this with house in Brighton only because I had the buyer. 

Am thinking to sell my home on ladder and wondering how i might go about this. Or if it's a good idea even!

Still plan to keep my teaching here from Jan-March but no need to have house. My father just died, spending less time here these days so am thinking to get valued, we'll see. Then would go to NYC area for rest of year.
