Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Any recommendations for doing this? is a jeweller or a pawnbroker best? Thanks - whatever I get for the ring will go to charity.

It’s a long story, but 20 or 30 years ago me and my former partner had a big lump of American turquoise to sell. We took it around the jewellers in Hatton Garden and ended up getting a couple of really good offers. If I had a bit of gold to sell, that would certainly be on my list. Whatever you do get a number of quotes. As I’m sure you’re aware, gold is amazingly expensive these days.

Thank you! will find a tidy outfit and try several places!

An alternative could be at auction — Southgate Auctions isn’t too far away, for instance, and always has lots of jewellery in its weekly sales.  Obviously the downside is commission, but it may depend on the actual ring: if it’s plain gold, then probably you’re looking for the best price per gram (Hugh’s suggestion sounds excellent), but if there are stones in it that make it desirable, then an auction might get you a higher price than just the “scrap” value of the gold.

Thank you for your thoughtful suggestion - its a plain 22carat ring so presume will be bought by weight
