Whether you are talking about 5 year olds or 15 year olds the idea of them walking 3 miles there and back every day in London is ludicrous. In Haringey most people have a choice of secondary schools within much closer distances. I don't think its particularly fair to have a lottery which means 1 child is having to spend hours travelling each day to a school potentially away from his siblings and his cohort from primary. Far better to share resources between schools on the basis of the need of the pupils in their catchment. Also if you think the people currently buying houses priced at 1.5million and above in N8 are sending their kids to the local comp you are mistaken.
