School Reception Class Places - Deadline for Applications

Councillors have just received a reminder about the deadline for applying for a place in a reception class at the Borough's primary and infant schools. I'm therefore passing it on. Please see below.

You may be aware that the deadline for parents and carers to apply for a reception place for their child(ren) is on 15 January 2014.  This deadline is for children who are due to start primary school in September 2014.

 Every year a very small number of parents and carers across the borough miss this deadline and make a late application for a school place for their child.  The Reception Admissions Booklet sets out on page 13: “If you apply after 15 January, we will look at your application after all those who have applied on time and it is very unlikely that you will be offered one of your preferred schools”....

To add a couple of further points (available via a flyer which the Council has published) - "children due to start primary school" are those born between 1st September 2009 and 31st August 2010 and more information is available at www.haringey.gov.uk/schooladmissions or on 020 8489 1000 or from your local school or children's centre.
