Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Sorry my first post on this Forum is so negative... We have just moved into the 'other' side of Green Lanes (N15) after selling up in N4 in March, and our house needed a new roof.  Yesterday the roofers we met with:

'I am from the gas company and the owners said you will let me in to read the meter' and later that day from someone else, 'the owners have hired me to do the loft can you let me in please'.

We authorised neither of these things - our roofers let in the "gas man" after checking his ID (possibly a photoshop job) but watched him over him like a hawk as he read the meter.  Their response to the loft man was 'no we are doing the loft - piss off'.

So if you have builders in, perhaps remind them to check with you before allowing any roaming visitors access to your home while you're at work and are not there to supervise.

We were lucky that we had the ' after the roof is done and the plumber is finished that is the end of the building work' conversation earlier in the morning.

On a positive note - thanks to HOLiners for their recommendations for roofers NT Fursse - not only have they turned up on time and worked hard they have protected our property (we are not doing the loft!), and for Abbott Damp Proofing who also did a great job.

It is great to be back in Harringay and can't wait for our first visit to the market on Sunday!

Well, that sounds pretty positive to me. Enjoy the market!

These 'people' keep an eye out for For Sale signs going up , down and for people moving in and out. They make their move as soon as they think they'll have a good chance of getting in unnoticed. You're very lucky your roofers cottoned on! PS: i live on 'the other side', but bit further away than you probably, and i love it. Welcome!

Yes this is why we are camping in the house with our stuff in storage - there was no way I was leaving it empty while the building work was going on.  It is great to be back, I really missed Harringay while we were in temporary accommodation.  Thanks for your welcome!  See you at the market.
