Thanks Hugh. The bottom picture isn't my road (Elmar Road - we don't have upstairs bay windows) but reminds me that the Council planted trees just like this all along both sides of our road a couple of years ago. I sent them a message to say thanks, as everyone was so happy about it, and it made a nice change to thank them for something since we're usually hassling them about rubbish etc! Makes such a difference and since then neighbours have taken to planting bulbs in the little square of dirt around the bottom of each tree, so we've got daffs, crocuses coming through soon. Daffs already appearing actually.
