Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Rude and non co-operative Viola bin staff this morning in Tottenham

Does anyone know who the best person at the council is to approach with on going issues about collection days and the state of the wheelie bins when Viola refuse to empty them and residents who leave bins on public footpaths.

My neighbour and I had a run in with a waste truck this morning and some of the crew were being very rude and anal about which bins they would take and which they would not. Some neighbours bins were over flowing with rubbish and they said they would not take them, we explained these bins were smelling and attracting flys and vermin and had been left for three weeks despite emails and call to Viola and to council and THAT was why they were overflowing, and we did not wish to have to walk past these bins anymore. The driver finally saw sense got out of the cab apologised for his rude crew and unloaded the offending bin himself.

Why are Tottenham residents still having to suffer with late collections or non collections and offending bins left week after week to rot? The council said all wheelie bins left on public footpaths would be removed and residents warned not to do this (or have their bins removed) yet week after week badly overflowing bins are left out on public footpaths, why is the council taking no action again persons who persist in doing this to their environment? Scotland Green has two dumps on the pavements and you have to walk in the road to avoid the mess.

The council promised us a grime team, but I see very little evidence they are tackling anything in Tottenham.

Go straight to the top and get in touch with Cllr Nilgun Canver, who's the cabinet member for all things environmental in the Council.  When we had problems with Veolia on our road on the Ladder we complained to Veolia by phone and in writing and nothing happened.  When we contacted Cllr Canver the matter was resolved quickly.  Her email is nilgun.canver@haringey.gov.uk - hope this helps.

Thank-you!

Happy to help!  Hope the issues are resolved quickly.

Letter has been sent!

It is also worthwhile copying in your local ward councillor.  We have had issues in West Green and Councillor Antonia Mallet in particular has been very helpful at putting pressure on the Council to make sure Veolia do a  better job

I love the idea of a non-cooperative viola ...
