Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

No rubbish collection today , Nelson Road. Council web site says January 2nd. What's the excuse this time, I wonder? Flu? Vomiting bug?

Can Veolia be sacked? They're making Enterprise look good, and I am sick of seeing their stupid purple sacks everywhere all the time.

Anyone else not had their rubbish collected again?

Anette, is that the normal collection day or the Christmas & New Year amended schedule?

I just checked ours and saw that Wednesday 2 January collections will be made on Thursday 3 January. We're Thursday and ours has been moved to Friday 4th.

It's per the schedule on the council web site, it clearly states January 2nd. And nothing. Like Alison says, shambles. Bins overflowing everywhere after Christmas.
Hi Anette, what's your collection day pls? Thanks.

@Nilgun, it was meant to be Jan 2nd.

Yep, Seymour Rd - no rubbish collected on 28th, but recycling was. Not like that week is a busy week rubbish wise. Bins now overflowing. Recycling due again tomorrow but don't know if they will collect rubbish. It is a shambles really.

(These days are as per the Xmas schedule).
Hi Alison, Ladder roads were not due for rubbish collection on 28 Dec. tomorrow all will be collected.

Nilgun, Veolia might want to give their collection search facility some attention. Here's what it says for my house. It shows collections due today (Weds). (And, did they truly collect on Boxing Day?).

Similar to the point I made here. Veolia have a page where you type in your postcode. It told me that both our general waste and recycling were due for collection on Thursday 27 December. We put the bins out. But it wasn't collected.

Haringey's website explained why. The page with "Opening Hours for the Festive Season" showed a changed date - Saturday 29 December. When our recycling and general waste bins were emptied.

As Hugh says, Haringey and Veolia need to co-ordinate information better. Mistaeks will happen - especially when we've had a huge change to the service. The key points are admitting to errors and learning from them to improve.

In the words of Nick Clegg's hit song:"I'm so, so sorry. When you're wrong you hold your hands up. You learn from your mistakes and that's what we will do."

Yes, it's a mistake. They should have amended it. It was changed due to Christmas and NY. I'll let the know. Thanks.

It's not a mistake - it's incompetence. We have a Christmas and a New Year every year and they should know that.

Hi Nilgun
Thanks, my mistake.
But it isnt working well - have just seen the house opposite, which has 5 overflowing bins (3 rubbish, 2 recycling) have their recycling bins ignored by the recycling lorry because they are full of rubbish - and one ignored by the waste collectors because they are recycling bins (they emptied one but left the other - as a message to the tenants, who knows?).
It's a house with 4 flats, and lots of rubbish. High turnover of tenants. Very challenging to get commitment to the new system in those circumstances, especially without greater communication with tenants.

Hi Alison, you're absolutely right. Those are the most challenging ones. That's why we're engaging with not only with tenants but also with freeholders, managing and letting agents & landlords towards behaviour change. E-mail me teed details pls. Nigun.canver@haringey.gov.uk
