Rubbish Nightmare!
To add to that, we were noticing that our bins (especially recycling) are not being picked up regularly at all. In fact, my husband happened to hear the bin man and watched him- he was looking at each houses bins and skipping some intentionally. Ours was completely full and he looked at it and walked on by! My husband ran after him down the street, with the bin and made him empty it. ????? I'm starting to feel like we live in the middle of a dump.
Help on those issues please! Thanks☺

My rubbish nightmares I can live with. It's those recycled nightmares that really haunt me.

You need to complain to Veolia and the Council. And take pictures of them if you can. And the rubbish.

Also I personally think collecting normal waste (not recycle) every two weeks is not enough, especially in the summer months when it's hot and the rubbish really starts to smell. Considering how much council tax we pay...

Totally agree with you, west green road just seems to get ignored. Walking along the section you mention at 8.30 every morning is out of control. It's definitely worse than other parts of Haringey where I've lived. I use the Veolia app too but it's all responsive, would really appreciate some more strategic planning to address this.

For example by the bus stop arounds 450 west green road, next to the undertakers. There is always a pile of rubbish. It's as though someone just opens their door or window and empties a bin straight onto the street.
The street cleaner man beat me too it otherwise I'd have logged a lot more. He does great job.

It only smells if there's food which of course there shouldn't be.
I have a tiny bin in my kitchen for residual waste. I live on an estate so I have to empty it myself into the bins on the estate. But since it only contains film plastic which unfortunately isn't recyclable in Haringey, I probably only empty this tiny bin once every couple of weeks. I have a much larger bin for recycling which I empty about once a week, and I empty the food waste 2-3 times a week (sounds like a lot but I have no garden so can't make compost, and it's mostly peelings, onion skin etc as I do a lot of cooking from scratch)
I walk down West Green Road most days. It's disgusting and coming from the same businesses every day. The council should do more enforcement.

Check out a bin with nappies. They can't go in the food waste or the recycling so only get taken away every couple of weeks. They smell pretty funky after a couple of weeks in the sun.

Excellent, but most people don't which means there are bins throughout the borough which are full of hot poo.

It's their choice though. To use disposable nappies, but also they are free to go with a private waste collector if they want more frequent collections.

What I meant was, that those nappies will be in the communal bins, not just in people's own bins, so it doesn't matter if there's not a jot of food in the non-recycling, there are still things that will be smelly in the heat. Used 'feminine hygiene' products for example, or dog/cat litter tray contents. It all smells after a few days.
And it's not necessarily a 'choice' to use disposable nappies - 'real' nappies are expensive (they only work out cheaper and more ecological after 2 kids have used them), they require space to store a bin to soak the dirty ones in before they're washed, they require a washing machine and space to dry them (if you dry them in a tumble dryer then you're doing away with the environmental benefits altogether). They also require more energy and time to manage than disposables, which isn't something all parents have in abundance.
