I've just heard from a neighbour that our milkman, Ron, has crashed his float, and will be on crutches for eight weeks with leg injuries. Ron, who is in his eighties, slipped on ice last Winter and cut his fingers badly from smashing the milk bottles he was carrying. He was supposed to take two weeks off but didn't... I think Ron does some of the ladder as he told me the Wightman Road closure had added an hour and a half to his working day. Tony is currently delivering for Ron.

If you are doing the ladder in the early hours you can just wind your way from one end to the other, the road closure should have no effect. What am I missing here?
Not sure John. I think Ron got caught with the wider traffic problems, and he wasn't just active in the early hours.
Our milkman delivers at 4am but there's another that is still out delivering around 8am when there's traffic, maybe that's Ron.
Presumably if he has deliveries to do on Wightman, before the closures he could just whizz up and down the road - now he has to go via the Ladder roads every other street.
I've been trying to find a local milkman - do you have any contact numbers or web addresses for any of them please?
Abi, obviously Ron can't help at the mo - I'll try & get Tony's no. for you. Other wise click on the milkman tag above.
Tony the Milkman who delivers in Downhills area is 07836316608
Poor Ron - he is such a friendly guy. We have been waving and saying good morning to him since my son was tiny.
Get well soon, Ron! Impressed that you've still being doing your rounds in your eighties!
