We've damaged the marble sink surround in our bathroom - partly through hard water deposits over the years, then through trying to rectify it with what were in retrospect inappropriate cleaning products. It needs a deep clean and polish. Can anyone recommend a company to do this? Thank you.

The Quinquennial (yes that is a word) Architect's inspection at St Paul's, Harringay last year gave some suggestions on how to do this and who might be able to help - if you want to know the answer, I'll try to dig it out.
I would be interested too. We have a marble kitchen top in need of some TLC
OK, I'll have a look for the info - might take me a few days!
Thanks Bethany. I have a marble countertop that needs a little attention.
Hi Hugh and all, sorry not to reply quicker - I've been searching for the product I used. I went into Roma, specialist marble supplier in Bounds Green. They were very helpful and said it would be very expensive to get a company to come out and that they would have to remove the sink surround and take it away to repolish it. They recommended scraping off the limescale deposits with a razor blade and then applying Akemi Darkener Super which you can order online or get from specialist suppliers. I went to this one:

This is suitable for dark grey marble which mine is so you'd need a variation for lighter colours. The results were not as good as I'd hoped but it is significantly better than it was so I'd say it's worth a try.
