Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Restaurant tables taking over public pavements on Grand Parade

Afternoon, does anybody knows if all those restaurants in grand parade have licence to leave the tables on what is now at least half of the pedestrian pavements?  I have concerns on public safety and emergency access, it's impossible to avoid bumping in someday eating on rude waiters behaviours acting like traffic warden for their business.

If you have raised this before or if you have any suggestion where I can get more specific information and complaint directly to Haringey departments please let me know.

Yes, they'll most probably all have licenses. Some will be temporary ones brought in to help businesses recover and comply with covid regs re eating outside.

The pressure on them might ease on Monday when they're allowed to seat people inside again.

I'm surprised you say they take up 'at least half' of the pavements. I live on the Gardens and walk past everyday... seem OK to me. Waiters not been rude either.. But sorry you've had that experience.

Thanks J

Its the Hala/gokyuzu section which gets narrow with lamp posts/bins queues 5 waiters acting like traffic wardens and that telephone in front of the chemist. We all want people and business get back to life, I'm talking about principle and being nice to humans (not only customers) and give priority to pedestrians/wheelchairs etc.

The waiter rude it's definitely that guy with moustache at Hala that one hour ago shouted bad words to me and my son. This is just for the records we all have good or bad experiences, would make sense for the council to "sell" sidewalks to restaurant and shops and make the road for pedestrians and divert traffic, that would surely make the lanes more green. Thanks again.

Fingers crossed after Monday's changes in Covid restrictions

They should not need these tables and chairs will not be needed

But it is a joke being unable to see if they have Valid Street use licences

As it is a obstruction of public footpath. Especially if they have staff marshalling people on footpath

Yes agreed, a 'greener' Green Lanes would be lovely, but not I fear likely in my lifetime anyway.

The Hala /Gokyuzu section is exactly where we live. .. I'll have keep an eye out for your moustachioed waiter...

Anyone seen ward Councillors during Civic or herd from them ?
