Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

RePost: Tortoiseshell Cat Still Unclaimed by Owner - Mannock Rd/Sirdar Rd Junction

Hi

I wanted to repost this in case it's been missed by the owner. Smallish, friendly tortoiseshell cat with yellow collar. It's being fed by 2 of my neighbours so seems to be doing OK despite the freezing nights but no doubt would prefer to be tucked up with its owner. Totally with you on the amazing work Celia Hammond do, my post seems to have been totally taken out of context here.  I was merely pointing out that perhaps her owners are in the area but unaware of her whereabouts; not everyone bothers with this site (and I'm beginning to wonder why I have).

There is nothing more I'd like than to make sure that cat is safe and warm indoors somewhere, I have offered practical help as I said - in the meantime to finding her a home but I am not the one "letting her live on the streets" - I just happen to walk past and see her now and then, I have seen her in the past but if she was on my doorstep, I would have taken her in and got her to a rescue home - I'm not sure why the person who managed to take her to the vets brought her back to be on the street to be honest but then I'm not on this site to slate other people, just trying to help her get back to her owners...if she has them.

Hi Mook, we're all in full agreement here, so that clears that up. :) the welfare of the cat is the most important thing. I think you shouuld contact CHAT and alert them to the fact that there's a stray around in this cold weather. They'll come get her and look after her. I've been reading through the posts, and there's every indication she's been abandoned. Please do let me know if you need any help.

Just to add not trying to apportion blame to Hannah or her neighbours here as they have been clearly trying to help.

No ones blaming anyone, I think we all want the same thing, for the cat to get a safe and happy ever after.

Was thinking, and if she's got fleas, and she's around and gets fed, how about mixing flea treatement in her food? That's one problem solved for her. Could someone take her in a carrier to Canning Town, or even Cat's Protection in Archway, I'm sure they'll help.

I would not want any cat living on the street.  As per my comment, if she has a home in the area and for whatever reason her owners aren't aware of where she is then I thought best we help her find her way home - she could be lost in the system as she's not chipped.  I wrote this before the snow came oh, and I am well aware of the dangers of foxes too, thanks!  I hope that clears it up for you.

I think that it seemed to me that there were a few indicators that she seemed homeless - she was camping on Hannah's door step, she had fleas, she wasn't chipped . I agree with you that we don't want to swipe a cat off the streets when it could turn out to be someone's pet. I was just getting concerned about how long she had been out on the streets for and how no one seemed to be considering contacting a cat rescue organisation.

I really don't want to cause offence to you and that wasn't my intention. I am sorry if I offended, and if I was too blunt, but I wanted to put across my quite strong protective feelings about the cat.

She has a collar...at least did have last time I saw her, so maybe her owner died or moved.

I am very concerned her and how long she's been on the streets hence why I'm checking back on the site as I've not seen her for at least a week.  I know she's been in the area a few years, I recall seeing her two years ago on my street, she didn't look homeless then so again I was thinking her owners could just be away/unaware she's where she is...

We need to know if she is still around - then let's get her to a rescue home unless someone in the road has given her a good home.

Haven't seen her recently but some friends of mine who live next to the builders at the end of the street have also been looking after her too so I think she's doing ok.

thanks Hannah, if there's anything I can do - I would happily supply cat food or blankets etc. if need be, I just hope she's got somewhere warm and safe...preferably indoors with this horrible weather... I walk past there every day, can drop things off anytime

best, mook
