Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hello everyone,

We had the unpleasant surprise of returning home to find the decorative part above our front door had fallen down. What does one even call that masonary work?

Fortunately no one was hurt except the recycling bin.

Does anyone know someone / a company who is skilled in replacing these? Aiming to get it back as close as possible to the original, a style typical for the ladder (we're on Seymour road)

Thanks!

Hornsey Architectural Mouldings on Tottenham Lane just opposite Hornsey Station

You may have to take a walk over there as apparently they're not great at answering the phone.

They did very good in interior work for me and I'm sure can do exterior.

We had some of the ceiling moulding replaced in one of our reception rooms. The builder we had was in doing some other bits and pieces and saw this job as simple. He took a mould of the remaining mouldings and simply formed a new piece. You can't see where the new bit is. I imagine that your job would be seen as similarly straightforward.

Given that you may well need a builder to fix any moulding you buy from elsewhere, I'd suggest getting a builder in to quote you for supply + fix vs fix only and see how prices works out with buying moulding elsewhere. Of course, you may also find that it will be very difficult to exactly match what you've lost without creating a moulding specifically for your house.

The builder we used was from a Polish guy called Piotr Kowalski. It was about 15 years ago and I'd guess that he may well no longer be trading.
