Red Scooter abandoned in Westerfield road

LAST NIGHT, 28 October I heard a motorcycle stacking it just outside my house. With nano seconds that it took me to get to the window I was in time to see two hoodies legging it away from the wreck, a 4 year old scooter. I did the natural thing, phone in hand and 999. I got in touch with the plod and explained. The operator asked if I could give her the reg number so trekking outside in the rain I read it to her. Her response utterly amazed me. It had not been reported as stolen so she would contact the council to get it removed!!!!!!!!! Hang on it had obviously been stolen or it would not have been abandoned and the riders run away. BUT no police, no nothing and I ended up dragging it to the kerb.
Makes you wonder, just what do we pay a police force for? They want to call themselves a service, but this seems to be sadly lacking.
