Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Just thought you should know, your council will give its decision on a lap dancing club on Friday in the Civic Centre. As this topic provoked much debate here in the past and as Haringey Licencing turned down a similar application for a club across the road from the Civic Centre, perhaps there are those who live in the HOL catchment area who may take an interest. The footprint of sex encounter venues is far larger than the pavement outside. It goes as far as the saunas and massage parlours within cab distance. It exposes children to something that they are not equiped emotionally to deal with. It desensitises young men to women as individuals and presents a sex product instead, a commodity. There is evidence of abuse of vulnerable dancers, financial exploitation, an increase in sex crime and the creation of no-go areas for many people. How would you feel if your wife, partner, girlfriend, daughter, or brother or son for that matter, was jeered, propositioned, hustled, harmed? A man pays money for a young woman to arouse him. He finishes his pint and goes home. He brings his respect for women with him into every aspect of his life. Please deny it. Anyway, the point is-if you have nothing better to do on this coming Friday 25th at 7.30pm, why not come down to and see what Haringey thinks its citizens need and want. It's free, it's democracy.

They are just moaning because it's in THEIR neighbourhood. Do you not remember the lap dancing club in West Green Rd some years ago? Did they complain then?

I think the study done by Tower Hamlets shows that there is not an unusual amount of crime around strip clubs in their patch but I bet there's a big increase in crime around our betting shops.

You should have joined in back then Alan, you might have been able to convince me that I'm wrong in thinking that this is just a non-issue for nimby prudes in Crouch End. *YAWN*

You don't think that happens here on the way home from the tube station EVERY evening?

You are being incredibly simplistic. You think someone can't respect "women" if one of them takes her clothes off in front of them in exchange for money? Does seeing homeless men in Crouch End make you lose your respect for all men?

Your choice of subject heading is pointless, subjective and has offensive connotations.
