Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

19 Princelet Street in Spitalfields is a Grade II* listed building - an unrestored 1719 Huguenot silk merchant's home which also contains a concealed synagogue dating from 1869.

It also houses London's 'museum of conscience'.

- Leave to Remain is an exhibition of work looking at asylum in Britain, by three contemporary refugee artists. The museum is family-friendly and provides an activity trail for children.

- Suitcases and Sanctuary is an exhibition made by children, explores the refugee experience in Spitalfields, from French Huguenot, Irish, Jewish, Afro-Caribbean, Somali and Bangladeshi viewpoints.

Sadly 19 Princelet Street is rarely open to the public because the building is too fragile and the charity is raising funds for urgent major repair.

Public open days are FREE (though donations are encouraged).

See the 19 Princelet Street website for further info.

I've been to this museum - really worth a look - it's got a lot of history just as a building (from Huguenot weavers to synagogue to present...) and some very interesting exhibitions.
