Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

lHi all

Chesterfield Gardens had a tree vandalised earlier in the year and we are trying to raise funds to replace it. We have £100 so far and need £150 more.

Please help if you can: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/newtreesonchesterfieldgarde...

Thanks

Hi, with this amount of money it sounds like it might be quite a big tree. I hope you don't mind me suggesting that planting a much younger tree means it will stand a much better chance of surviving in the long term. Plant a whip (one or two years old), and if you mulch and water it it will grow (depending on the species) to double its height at least in the first year. I volunteer in Lordship Rec, and trees that we planted as tiny whips 3 years ago are now nearing the height of some of the very expensive bigger trees planted some 8 years ago. Older trees will find it much harder to establish. Where will you be sourcing your tree from?

Hello! Thanks for the reply. This is a street tree and replacing it is all done via the council. You can read all the information about tree sponsorship on the Haringey council website. There is a bit of choice and a set price. Hopefully we’ll get enough.
