Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

radiator advice required... for a ladder house front bay window

Hi all,

I need a radiator in my front room - I'd like to put it under the bay window to reduce condensation on it (it's currently mouldy and disgusting and rotten (not my fault, honest - previous residents' fault, yer 'onner) and the wall beneath. It's currently got a panel radiator in the middle of one wall which I want to remove

It's a big window in the bay, so I've only got about a foot from the floor to the bottom of the frame to play with.

has anyone been in a similar situation? how did you deal with it? can you point me in the direction of a radiator supplier who does low level radiators?

Thanks very much

I wonder David if this could be a rising damp problem rather than condensation? Anyway if it is condensation you need ventilation rather than moving your radiator.
thanks hob - it's not rising damp - that's currently being dealt with. the radiator's also in an inconvenient place - in the middle of an interior wall.

as for ventilation, unlike the previous residents i intend to open the window from time to time , adn again, unlike them, I know where the key to the window lock is...
Ha ha. I presume you have also checked any vent in the room is clear as they might also have filled it in to stop draughts. Good luck.
I checked it last night!, Thanks for your help
Hi David

You could try THL on Hornsey High Street here's a link to their website.

Local, cheap, and in my experience fairly helpful, I hope that helps.

If you are really stuck, I may also be able to organise a free damp survey with a reputable company that don't rip people off. Just send me a message if you feel this will help shed some light on it.
Steve
Thanks Steve, I'll have a look.

Damp proofing is currently in progress - since the plaster's off and the carpets are up I thought I'd try and get some plumbing done at the same time
You're welcome. Good luck with it all.
