Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

It can't be any worse than the Greedy Wok. So this has to be an advance. Looks like it might be about a week away.

called Obergine
Yes, noticed that. Do you think they used the same brand consultants as the Greedy Wok? ;o)
at least its an alternative to kebabs ;-)
Absolutely. Let's just hope it's a more viable one than the last one, eh.
Probably the same owners as the failed GW. A pasta dish is probably the easiest to knock out at home.
Isn't it "Cobergine"? Or isn't that a "C" at the start?
Maybe our Dear Leader has a new sideline.
That'd explain the sister shop, Canvergine, opening further down the road.
pasta place sounds great, and Im hoping that the terrible GReedy wok has closed down although i fear not

When is someone going to reopen an indian restaraunt on green lanes, ther must be loads of call for it,so we dont have to reply on take outs or going all the way to turnpike lane
What do you all have against the Greedy Wok?!!.. The chicken wings were delish...
Has anyone tried out the offerings yet? Would appreciate a little review.

It is right across the road from me - but haven't been able to pop in just yet. Any ideas on prices?
I've tried it, and was generally impressed.

The new interior is much nicer than the old Greedy wok - some nice sofas, and aubergine paint highlights.

I had the gnocchi with walnuts and blue cheese sauce, which was good. Good sized portion, gnocchi nicely cooked, sauce with good flavour and plenty of nuts. Only slight criticism was the balsamic vinegar on the rocket on top - so last decade.

My companion had one of the breakfasts which was fine - better bacon than Cafe Lemon, similar size portion (ie huge). Unfortunately the sausage was still the gristle tube popularised by Cafe Lemon - I'd rather have one of Baldwin's fine bangers. Slightly odd was the small Mediterranean side salad and the hash browns coming on a bed of lettuce - odd but not objectionable.

Juices and coffees were both good and service was friendly and quick. The rest of the menu wasn't terribly inventive or different to the Cafe Lemon/Mezzo etc, but did have a few different dishes.

Overall a reasonable alternative to the existing cafes, and somewhere I'll certainly be going again.
If only they would buy their sausages from Baldwin's they'd have a winner on the breakfast front.
