As a consequence of correspondence with David Lammy following the 'snowy' meeting in February, and with an eye on tomorrow's Area Assembly, I thought it interesting to observe substantial agreement between opinions expressed on HOL, the work being done by the Liberal Democrats and the position David Lammy takes in his letter to Claire Kober in response to my correspondence:
[extract from letter from David Lammy MP dated 13th July 2009]
'The details of the concerns are outlined in the attached letter so I will not repeat those details here, however I would like to highlight some of the matters raised and add my voice to those asking for these concerns to be addressed.
Wightman Rd is not included in the Ladder area's 20 mph zone
Traffic calming measures are needed in certain places along Wightman Rd, Alroy Rd and Endymion Rd
The pavements on Wightman Rd are in very poor condition'
Given this consensus of common sense, it'll be interesting to see whether the Council, or particular members, are willing to isolate themselves by rejecting common sense and failing to propose funding for the sorts of changes that have been sought.
