More on this from the Council:

This week has seen the council's neighbourhood action; anti-social behaviour and trading standards teams join Metropolitan Police officers and members of the London Fire Brigade to run a week of action for Noel Park, including Wood Green High Road.

Wood Green High Road is the main brand name shopping hub in the borough, as well as the centre of Tube and other transport links, and therefore a potential hot-spot for crime and anti-social behaviour.

The Noel Park Week of Action is aimed at helping to drive down crime and anti-social behaviour and promote personal and household safety in the run up to Christmas. It brings together members of the Haringey Community Safety Partnership to help residents and shoppers to feel safe and keep safe this festive season.

Trading standards teams have visited shops, bars and restaurants and there have been intensive patrols of the high street by police officers, backed up by two observation towers along the High Rd. There has also been the usual CCTV monitoring of the high street and shopping centre, with police officers on hand present to ensure fast response times and more on the spot arrests.

Alongside crime prevention and enforcement on the high street, residents and schools in Noel Park have been given safety advice such as how to prevent theft and avoid fire risks. The council’s anti-social behaviour action team have been knocking on doors and speaking to local people to find out more about any problem areas within the ward. A clean up of the streets, including litter pick and litter patrolling, has also taken place.

yes I did not like them either, but if it stops crime and anti social behaviour then thats ok. But then you think what is a the point of CCTV?

i think its a good idea, anti social behaviour needs to be clapped down and crime.
