Friends of the Earth & Sustainable Haringey have a petition asking Haringey Council to move its investments out of coal and tar sands, the two most harmful fuels to our climate. This is part of a global movement supported by Norway's sovereign wealth fund, Oxford City Council, Glasgow University, and many others. Please sign the petition, which is at
http://www.minutes.haringey.gov.uk/mgEPetitionDisplay.aspx?id=4
or
http://www.minutes.haringey.gov.uk/mgEPetitionListDisplay.aspx?bcr=...
and also ask your friends. Anyone 18 or over who lives, studies or works in the borough of Haringey can sign. 1737 people have already signed, online or on paper.
Extreme weather, such as Hurricane Sandy, and last year's Somerset floods, will get more frequent unless the use of polluting fuels is cut very soon.
The global divestment movement is making very good progress, showing investors that renewables and clean industry are likely to be much less risky options than fossil fuels: http://gofossilfree.org/commitments/

Thank you very much.
We can provide someone to take part in discussion about divestment if you would like. Anyone who would like to join in our campaign can contact me.
