Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Not sure if you had seen Haringey Council plans to turn a disused council staff car park in Wood Green into a creative and artistic hub and café?

The Wood Green Campus project will turn the former Station Road Car Park and adjacent empty office building into a cluster of timber work sheds, studios and offices to be used as workshops or retail units for local businesses.

It will also include a cafe in a Routemaster double-decker bus, as well as micro allotments, timber and metal workshops, an arts exhibition space, creative studios and offices. There will also be a central square for cultural events and market pitches. The project will bring 580 sq metres of vacant space back into use and create up to 30 local jobs.

We are calling for local residents to find out more and give their views on the plans at drop-in information sessions next week at the Green Rooms, 13-27 Station Rd, N22 6UW on Thursday 22 September (10am to 6pm) and at Wood Green Library on Saturday 24 September (12 noon to 4pm).

Members of the team involved in the project and staff from Haringey Council will be on hand to talk through the plans and how local people can apply to take up one of the units.

What a lovely idea

it sounds like a great plan! Thanks for sharing

Looks good and 'Camdenish', will bring life to neglected enclave complete with a 70s style minicab shed.

Nice idea but where do they find words like Campus? Don't they know it makes them look a bit desperate to be In With Da Kids?

It's to match the " Cultural Quarter " which they think makes Wood Green sound a bit like Paris .

Does that mean it will eventually be known as Bois Vert?.

Naturellement mon ami

I presume the over priced taxi stand will be going now uber has killed the need for fat controllers.

I remember the hoo-ha in the late 60s when mini-cabs started operating, much to the chagrin of the Hackney Carriage drivers. Rival cab firms used to ring up and block each others lines at peak times.

Looks like the taxi stand is staying ...

Shame, did the planning department really allow a crap shipping container to continue to exist there ?

The Omnitorium (Double Decker Bus) in Eade Road http://www.omnitorium.co.uk/#team,
