Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hello all,

My cousins are coming over from canada and are interested in staying near to Lausanne where we live.

But, as is the case with most of us we tend not to use hotels or B&Bs in the area we live in. Has anyone got anyrecommendations for accomodation around the ladder or towards crouch end?

Thanks

J

Hi,

Try www.mountviewguesthouse.com.   It is on Mountview Rd, not sure which side - but it may not be too far (just over the Haringay station railway bridge to get to the ladder.

Also www.aberhotel.com is on Crouch Hill.

I haven't stayed in either, but I thought the Mountview one looked nice

There is also that hotel at the top of Burgone Rd (just beow the station), but it would be noisy there.

Hope that helps

Re Cath's last suggestion, the Shelton, at the top of Burgoyne, there was a post on here a few years back which included a hilarious link to a very bad series of reviews on tripadvisor, so unless it has changed much since I'd not put you guests up there! Do post if you find somewhere local as I'd be interested.
Wow, reviews for Shelton actually getting worse...

http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g186338-d583505-Reviews-L...

They are hilarious!

These lines from two disgruntled guests sum up the general tenor of the reviews:

"We are considering our legal options at the moment."

and

"it should be condemned and closed immediately so it doesnt cause psychological damage to anyone else."

It's hard to sympathise with the later reviewers when they could/should have read the previous reviews and if they did read the previous reviews, why stay there and then complain ?
If those reviews are typical of guests' experiences, should it not be subject to a visit by Environmental Health or whatever organisation is left to do that sort of work? Stained mattresses and dirty toilets should get it shut down.  Who checks the kitchens? What/who licences hotels? What stops me opening up my front room and calling it a hotel?
I have The Aber for work colleagues for a few years until 2006, they always liked it

The Aber is a proper hotel with proper prices - Single room = 70 GBP per night

Just been for a tour of the Aber hotel. It's very nice, everything spotless, large rooms with amenties, en suite, friendly helpful staff. Highly recommended for it's prices.

All the local ones we know about are listed on HoL's Local Hotels & Guesthouses page. (Now updated to include the Aber. Thanks Cath.)

Hugh, that link isn't working, is there another?
Thanks

Yes, the page has moved. I've now redirected the link - or you can find it direct on the drop down list from the local info tab in the black strip across the page.
