Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Some dipstick has decided its a brilliant idea to take both the Piccadilly and Victoria lines down Northbound this weekend and I have mum inlaw and sis inlaw coming down Sunday both wanting to go to Oxford St for a bit of shopping - any ideas on how to get them there by bus fairly painfree from Turnpike lane (I dont mind a bit of bus hopping they might be less keen...)

The 29 goes to Tottenham Court Road.
Cheers chick - did think of that its just that bloomin long route all the way through Camden!! plus they are from rural country think the 29 might be a bit scary!!!! am thinking going to seven sisters and getting the 476 or 73 to Kings X - the Vic line is up from there.
Honestly though no a very bright idea taking both lines down all weekend
Especially after a bloody strike! I spent about 45 mins standing at the bus stop this morning before heading back home - admittedly I had forgotten that the strike was on (duh) otherwise I wouldn't have even bothered.

I took the 29 last week at about 5.30, it didn't actually take that long - although it may have been a fluke.
I was actually really clever today - got a 243 at 7:30 to Dalston and walked to Kings X from there - Rich tried to get a 259 at Manor House and gave up and walked - he had also no idea there was a strike on!
Hmmm might give the 29 a shot - think it will be ok on the way there but might be a bit mad on the way back - just a bit worried that the 29 might scare the pants off them particularly if there some of the more excitable locals onboard
the 29 is very quick
cool have been convinced - is it pretty quickon the way back
No. It's very slow on the way down - Turnpike Lane to Tottenham Court Road on a normal Sunday afternoon would take you around 45 mins - and with the strike you're looking at over an hour. On the way back it's far, far worse. That's why I walk back from the football. It ain't worth the wait, or the hassle.

I would go with Hornsey to King's Cross and then walk to Oxford Street.
What's scary about the 29? Anyway, from Seven Sisters to Kings Cross the 259 is quicker than the 73 or the 476.
What's scary about the 29??

Have you been on it?!?

Can't believe how useless TFL are. The only time you need them - I cycle everywhere - yep - they can be guaranteed to let you down.
Alternatively, walk up to Hornsey Rail, and you can catch the mainline train (travelcards are valid or you can use Oyster PAYG) straight to Kings Cross, and catch the tube from there.
Genius Malcolm - think thats the winner - are the overground trais ok on a Sunday - I always forget about the overground
