Peter Jones Foundation ‘Tycoon in schools’ awards Park View students start up funds for anti-bullying social enterprise

Students at Park View have successfully submitted a business plan to the Peter Jones Foundation, ‘Tycoon in Schools’, where they have been awarded a start-up loan for their social enterprise ‘#Hashtag’.  This is the first year students have participated in the project which runs throughout the month of November and they will be working tirelessly to ensure that the business is a success.

Enterprise Coordinator Chris Hill said: ‘The team are delighted to have been awarded the start-up funds and are looking forward to putting their business plan into action.  #Hashtag will be using all their profits to raise awareness of bullying and create resources that can be used to tackle those affected by bullying.’

Students developed their business plan, carrying out a range of market research to ensure that the idea would be both successful and sustainable.  Tapping into the popularity of social networking, students will be producing a range of customised t-shirts and clothing, tailored to each individual customer and organising a series of events to promote the business.

Student Managing Director, Kayleigh Johnstone said: ‘We believe that by tying in the products and events to a specific issue, bullying, the business will appeal to the widest possible audience ensuring it is both profitable, but more importantly that it will support the community that we live and work within.’
