Perv groping ladies on the Parkland walk
Hi,
This is just to let ladies know to please be careful if you use the parkland walk between Finsbury Park and Highgate, especially on the first portion between Finsbury park and Ferme Park Road.
My flatmate was walking down the path on Wednesday around 6:30PM. Due to the warm weather, she was wearing a short and a normal shirt but nothing provocative. A man was following her as she entered the parkway. Nothing to worry about on a path, but a few minutes later he groped her lady parts before running away.
On Thursday evening, while coming back from work by the roads, at the same hour, she passed nearby one of the entrance and saw a similar man running away from the parkland walk. She thinks it was the same man but it was quick and she can not guarantee it. She quickly checked but could not see a woman around. Hard to tell if it was another assault on a lonely person but the guy apparently reacted really weirdly when he saw her.
Overall, she was shocked to be groped but she is physically ok. I just wanted to spread the word that there might be a guy targeting lonely girls on this area, if that can prevent another bad experience, this message is worth it.

Was this reported to police? Also, no need to victim blame and talk about clothing style I reckon. The guy is a perv and needs to be caught.

Not an overreaction at all John; Deborah isn't saying that.
But, "Due to the warm weather, she was wearing a short and a normal shirt but nothing provocative" seems to suggest, albeit unintentionally, that clothing might have been a factor. It never should be and Deborah is right to highlight that.
Passing by, thank you for alerting us. I'm sorry that this happened to your flatmate, hope she is ok and has reported the sexual assault to the police so it's on their radar.

John, I think you've missed the point Deborah is making, and Jessica is spot on. No one is suggesting anyone other than the perpetrator is to blame - full stop. I also do not believe 'passing by' meant to suggest that the victim was blameless because she was 'appropriately' dressed. However, there are some people out there who do believe that the way a woman is dressed is an indication of or somehow legitimises inappropriate behaviour! I think 'we' are all agreed that there is never an excuse - no matter what!

I agree Steve. We all know that misguided people sometimes say " Well she was asking for it.. " and I agree that that is totally unacceptable.
But Deborah's initial post reads as a criticism of Passingby for even saying that clothing wasn't a factor and I don't think that is warranted.
Anyway, sympathies to the victim and I hope the offender is caught before he causes any more distress.

There was a thread on here a few weeks ago where a woman told of a pervert sexually assaulting her in one of the local parks in broad daylight. I wonder if it was the same pervert?

Please ensure this has been reported to the police. If hes been seen twice likely it could happen again.
