Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Dan. Always helps having a local on the Standard!

This place is really great!  I definitely recommend.  So Happy to have it on West Green Road

What a review! HoL got there first once again!

My Mrs & I took a friend there on Friday evening as a birthday treat. My third visit, their first. Maybe we caught them on a bad evening but things seemed distinctly Fawlty Tower-ish. It was not only packed out but throughout our visit groups waited at the bar for their booked tables to free up (as we had to do at 7.30 pm). As we were seated next to the pizza prep(?) area at the back, with barely room to pass, my chair was constantly bumped into by rushing staff.  They don't seem to have worked out their table system as they kept bringing food to the wrong tables.

They really need to brief the waitress both on what comes with the dishes and what's off the menu. She happily took orders throughout for starters, mains, and desserts, only to return later to ask us to choose again (our friends starter, main, and my dessert). Just rubbing them off the board would help. We were asked if we'd like sparkling water (yes we would) only to be later told that they'd ran out. Then one of the waiters dashed outside - I thought someone had done a runner- returning minutes later with several bottles of Peroni.

Sometime after our starter dishes were taken away we were asked if we'd like coffee or liqueur... Getting a top up of wine was a struggle.

We all thought the food was generally 'good' (my tuna starter was superb) but overall it's currently not a patch on Apulia for example which is similarly priced but a much superior dining experience. Mrs E commented that after a stressful day at work she really didn't want more stress when eating out and she'd not come back until she hears it's improved.

I picked up some takeaway pizzas this evening and they were once again excellent - for a nearby takeaway option, I now prefer P & T pizzas to Durazzo, which I think have not been as good recently.

I asked how things have been since opening and the head waiter (lovely man and newly recruited) said it had been a baptism of fire since the article was written in the Standard. I'm sure it was welcomed, but it sounded to me like it was just too soon for a new restaurant to cope with the sudden influx of diners. They're working hard to get everything bedded down, so hopefully you have a better experience, if there's a next time.

I hope so too Nick, it's just that it seemed to me to have gotten worse on each visit - and I'd probably over-hyped it with the Mrs & our friend.
