Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I have just seen lots of Parking Suspension notices put up in all the roads on the Campsbourne estate since this morning stating NO parking on 4th and 5th April. As this is one of the few non CPZ / Estate parking zones anywhere in Hornsey, and certainly to the north of the High Street, I wonder where we are supposed to magically disappear our vehicles to? It is hard enough as it is parking anywhere near your own road. If I leave the Campsbourne estate with my car I am immediately in the so-called South Hornsey CPZ which leads to the various Crouch End CPZs and then Stroud Green CPZ. Any other direction hits the Wood Green CPZs.

I hope someone responsible for this can give me some advice as to where hundreds of cars, especially my own, can legitimately park without being clamped or towed and resulting in a fine please.

Of course this assumes I can leave the estate when High Street is constant nose to tail traffic in both direction due to Wightman Road closure.

I suppose the signs aren't an April Fool are they?

On a walk around my estate there are sign covering Boyton Road, Boyton Close, Eastfield Rd, Brook Rd and Newland Rd from 8am to 6pm both days and asking us to find alternative parking.

So be warned if you live and park off Nightingale Lane or WERA estate - we will be after your spaces.

Spoke to several shopkeepers and local residents who have heard various reasons for new double yellow lines being installed (the signs unhelpfully state closure is for "lining").

Some say estate is to become a one way system - this was ruled out decades ago as it would cause a racetrack mentality in drivers.

Others have heard the council is extending all current double yellows to force us into having a north Hornsey CPZ.

This will cause even more pressure to the west of Nightingale Lane.

Why was this sneakily notified in the middle of a Friday when most people wouldn't see the signs until after council closed for weekend?

It would be nice if those voted in to represent us had told us or got their council to properly notify us.

I wonder if residents in surrounding roads aware?

Aren't they supposed to give at least 7 days notice for parking suspensions? Ultimately the Council don't concern themselves with what you do with your car. They don't see it as their problem. It's the same for my mum when the Notting Hil Carnival is on...the Council just say whole streets have to remove their cars from the area entirely for 2 days. If you don't mind paying for the Visitor parking vouchers, you are welcome to come and park in my road on the ladder....assuming you can get through the traffic that is

How kind, thank you. I think the struggle to get anywhere on Ladder at moment is too much to contemplate. I have fingers crossed i can find a space somewhere in N8 - or park on a pavement!
