Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hope everyone had a good Easter. Some of you may have been following our tweets as we've been away in Italy near Verona, on our 7th international Sports Tour. This was the biggest yet with 89 students and 12 teachers taking part. Groups included, two boys and one girls basketball team; two boys football teams and a girls team; a dance group and the Key Stage 4 media crew.

The highlights of the tour:

  • Inter Milan versus Geneve football game in San Siro stadium, where the teams scored a total of 9 goals. Many penalties, red and yellow cards and great atmosphere.

  • Basketball U16 team played Virtus Italy a well-known local basketball team. We won the game by 9 points, which had to come to an end when our point guard did a slam-dunk and broke the plexi backboard!

  • We have visited Gardaland theme park at lake Garda.

  • All team fixtures and the dancers prepared a routine for our sports day which will be taught to more than 1100 students this year.

We organise this tour every year, because we would like to show kids different sports culture standards and to test their skills and abilities against foreign teams to expand diversity amongst our teams. For some of our students this is the first time that they visit a foreign country and have travelled without their parents.

The media students updated the school website regularly to use new age communication channels and to get real life experience in the field of media/journalism.

You may have spotted us in the press too!

Thanks for the update PVS. Some great materials. If your students fancy extending their 'real life experience in the field of media/journalism', I wonder if there's a conversation to be had?

Congratulations on the humanities results as reported in the Newsletter - top 1%!
