Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I know some people won't agree with me but had to post, had used this cafe regularly for a while until I was informed they had a exotic bird in a cage, they have since bought another one, if like me you feel it is wrong to imprison any type of bird (unless rescued and no alternative) in a cage, please pop in and tell Hassan the owner what you think, they are not rescued and when very busy in there, must feel frightened.....

What a shame and how utterly tasteless. My son and I go there after football practice so I'll definitely mention something.
Thank you, it's one of the better cafes around but I can't use it.
I doubt I'll be going back there. Incidentally, they have a Facebook page you know...
Ben, they think I'm a bit cuckoo, they can't see the cruelty involved.
Message them on their FB page. I'm sure if enough people do they might consider changing their minds.
Horrendous. This should be illegal. More than happy to play a part in any action.

If action involves freeing the captives, probably not recommended as they will die in the wild.  Maybe a transfer to a nice big aviary where they can use their wings.  Clissold?  London Zoo?

"A Robin Redbreast in a Cage

Puts all Heaven in a Rage."

Do I come across as that barmy? :-/

For the record I was thinking more along the lines of pressure on the owners to do something about it.

Not all animal activists are non-barmy.

If the owners are shamed out of keeping the birds, they will need an alternative.  So if a least-worst place can be found for them, it may help with the nudge.  If birds must be caged, a big aviary with compatible mates is the only answer.  I don't know how easy it is to introduce alien birds to an existing set-up.  Does anyone know what species these are?  Canaries are Mediterranean favourites.

I agree with you Terri. It's cruel. I won't be visiting this cafe as long as this is the case

Thank you all for your concern, I think if anyone could go in and personally speak to them it may help, they have purchased the birds so will not want to give them to a rescue and of course they can't be released, it's a hard one, I have made my feelings known, I hope in time they will tire of them and hopefully they can go to a rescue......

Thank you, kind folks, for pointing me towards Park View Cafe as a pleasant change from Café Lemon or Moka. I do so love caged tweets of a mid-morning in preference to the nattering and twittering of the non-feathered variety.
