Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hey all,

Can anyone recommend a great place to buy fresh Oysters around green lanes ladder area. I live in Duckett road. Ever since the slightly bizzare but wonderfully friendly fish shop on green lanes very suddenly shut down several months ago, and replaced by an entirely useless conterfeit watch shop I have been lost without my weekly Oyster fix.

The guy used to get them fresh from Billingsgate every thursday or friday morning. Sainsburys and Morrisons ocassionally stock oysters but it is very random and never reliable and most importantly - they are never as good, as big, and as cheap as the guy on green lanes.

Is there any other shellfish nuts out there that can help me.

Ever tried buying them online? There is another company at Whitstable but they're not delivering just at the moment.
Second Steve Hatt. The best place near us. There's another I've used for crab in St John's Wood, but that's a wee bit of travel.
What have the Romans ever done for us? Sweet FA, according to the oystermen of Whitstable, Kent. Whitstable Oyster Fishery may have gone on permanent strike because the Orient Express, for its Whitstable Oysters & Champagne post-five-course-lunch stop, has been serving Essex (not Essex Road) oysters all the way from Camulodunum (Colchester). Colchester Oyster Fishery say it's WOF's own fault as two Whitstable companies (perhaps one Matt refers to) had turned down the Orient Express's express command. So put not your oystral trust in non-Roman Whitstable.

And when Orient Express British Pullman next pulls into Harringay, Hornsey or Harringay Green Lanes what local delicacies shall we offer? Escargots des Railway Fields? Prairie Oysters de Passage Pitbull? Knotweed Japonaise de Burgoyne? .. ... .
Shaba Fresh Fish and Seafood Centre on West Green Road (Seven Sisters end) is really good - not sure if they do Oysters there, but worth a visit
I find them really good Will. They do have some frozen stuff too but the fresh snapper, live crabs, etc are really good ..trust me ...or blame me if you try them again and still don't like them :) ...but try them again anyway if you live opposite. At least you won't have far to go back to complain if necessary! They'll de-head/de-bone/de-scale your fish - do whatever you want with it, and you can usually pick up good tips on what to do with some of the more unusual fish from people waiting in the queue if you fancy something different!
The fish stall at Wood Green (half way up on the left between Turnpike Lane and Wood Green) don't stock them but they will order in whatever you want and you can get them the next day. They get them fresh from Billingsgate. We've got clams from them like that and they're really reasonable (and fresh). I think they're there Weds. to Saturdays.

Alternatively, get down to Billingsgate on a Saturday morning and buy them yourself - for shellfish, you don't need to buy masses (you can just buy a single crab) and as long as you're there by 7am, you should be fine to pick some up. It's an amazing experience if you've never been.
You can get them at the fish stall in Wood Green Shopping City (in the rear market area)....
HEY EVERYONE, THANKS FOR ALL THE SUGGESTIONS. I SHALL TRY THEM ALL OUT.
PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING.
