Organisers trying to crowdfund Finsbury Park Uprise Festival

UpRise started as a grass roots campaign responding to the cancellation of the annual anti-racism festival Rise. The intention was to gather a petition to present to the Mayor of London calling for the reinstatement of the festival with it’s traditional anti–racism message he had removed from the 2008 event.

They have bee running a campaign to raise £100,00 to bring back the festival. Sadly the deadline has passed this year with donations falling well short of target.

However, the organisers say "Our original funding deadline has passed, but we've decided we have come too far to stop now. We may not be able to get all the money we need for the full festival this year, but we pledge to put on an event for you even if we don't reach our target, and we are committed to making UpRise an annual event which will grow - 2011 will be bigger and better!"
