Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Big word up to the police who responded quickly to a break and enter call we made earlier this week in the St Anne's area. Squatters were breaking into the house next door and the  quick response from the police ensured they got them while they were still in the house. The previous squatters (who had been there for three months) were only recently kicked out, and we were not in the mood for another round of living next door to people who have no interest or stake in their environment. Well done guys.

Is the property owner one of the good guys too then?

Leaving a house unoccupied is arguably a moral offence in some instances, and in fairness, there is some justification for squatting a perfectly good but empty property.

There are good and bad property owners, as well as good and bad squatters alike. Tarring all with one brush may not be fair.

I guess the question has to be, why has this house been left empty for long enough that it could be squatted twice? If it's empty, who is paying the council tax that should be due?

Sometimes it's hard to get tenants! There were two periods over recent years when my flat was vacant when I was working abroad - I was desperate for some rent! Especially as it was I that had to pay the council tax while it was empty; someone has to and it will be the responsibility of the absent owner.
Very good money! And quite astounding nerve.
