Northbound traffic stacked all the way to Clissold. Southbound no delays. Change the phasing??

I presume the site is the bridge over "The New River" at Finsbury Park. At least the guy was honest with you and he could have also told you he didn't care because when your work takes you amongst the public you become immune to them. You could try ringing VolkerFitzpatrick. They do all the "we care about the local community" stuff.

Yes it looks a badly organised set up. I saw about 6 blokes playing statues up there earlier. The only way you can really make that work is to get the contractor to work on a road rental system. For every day you are there you pay £5,000 or something like that. You price the length of time to finish the job into your tender and the quicker you finish the job the more you save.

There seems to be something bizarre going on with their understanding of traffic flows in London i.e. that more people are heading out of town in the evening, than are heading in. Result being that southbound traffic seems to be flowing fairly freely and isn't backed-up, yet traffic heading north is backed-up from Manor House to beyond Clissold Park.

My 141 was sat at the lights at Brownswood Road and had to let four sets of green lights go before we could cross as there was no room for any other vehicles on the other side of the road. I got off at that point and walked up to the Salisbury with only a single 29 passing me in all that time. I was expecting some sort of tailback heading south, but it was all pretty normal.

I walked all the way from Stoke Newington Church Street last night at about 7, and must have beaten the bus by a good 20 minutes, at least.  I was prompted to get off by hearing the driver chat to another driver coming the other way, saying it had taken him nearly an hour to get to Manor House from Newington Green on his outbound journey.

parasitic traffic.

It just wants to pass through, unimpeded, without contributing anything to the local area - and we pay for it to do so, and pay more when the levels of it rise.

Stan, flow is clearly rigged in favour of local Sainsbury's shoppers. Local politicians wouldn't want a return of the flak caused by the 'Sainsbury's carpark meltdown' :)

I'm hoping someone switched-on will have had a word with the contractors about the traffic light settings, but if anyone gets home before 6pm and encounters gridlock between Newington Green and Manor House, could they please post an update on here, so I'll know to find an alternative way home? Thank you!

This has been driving me nuts this week! In addition to the river that was cascading down Green Lanes/Hermitage from the roadworks site the other night, the traffic is just ridiculous. Took over an hour to get to the stop before Manor House, upon which I gave up and got off and walked home in the freezing cold.

I don't think I can deal with it for much longer, and I'm going to pay out of pocket and get the train home from Old St to Harringay station tonight!

Stagger the time of your journey if you can. I got the 141 from London Bridge to the Salisbury at 4 pm yesterday and the total journey time was 34 minutes. Manor House to past the Arena took about 10 minutes.
