Sent on behalf of Cllr David Browne
Dear Resident
From this month, the old Area Assembly system is being transformed and replaced with an Area Forum and Committee which will work with local people to improve the neighbourhood for all residents. It is intended that the new area committee will have additional powers to shape aspects of local services in response to local conditions and residents’ concerns. It will also produce a local area plan over the next few months, which will be guiding future council activities, local budgets and planning decisions in our area.
Meetings will start with an open public forum followed by a decision-making session of the Committee that is open to the public. There will be opportunities to ask questions of local councillors and council officials, to make suggestions and raise issues of concern, as well, of course, to network with other local residents, traders and activists. I would also like your suggestions for topics at future meetings, so that the agenda is driven as far as possible by local people.
You are warmly invited to the first of such meetings for St Ann’s and Harringay wards on 21st July.
Please make an effort to come and help us to get this new initiative right. I look forward to meeting you. Cllr David Browne Chair: St Ann’s and Harringay Area Forum and Committee
