Samaritans has launched a hard-hitting campaign to deter men from taking their own lives on the railway.
The ‘Men on the Ropes’ initiative has been launched in partnership with Network Rail in an effort to reduce railway suicides by 20 per cent.
With its boxing theme, the campaign is specifically targeting working-class men in their 30s, 40s and 50s, who are the most likely of all to die by suicide, including those on the railway.
It features backing from a number of well-known sports personalities, including international rugby union referee, Nigel Owens, who once tried to take his own life.
The campaign will see a number of events happening around the country this week, including at Waterloo, Glasgow Central and Cardiff Central stations.
