Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Having had a very pleasant visit from Hugh (who gave us a quick introduction a few days ago), I thought it would be a good idea to open a forum post so I can tell everybody what it is we do, answer any questions and court a bit of feedback from the good people of Harringay.

New River Studios can be found at 199 Eade Road, close to the junction with Seven Sisters Road. Housed in an old furniture warehouse, we have a cafe/bar, music practice rooms, a recording studio, an event space, a gallery, a photographic studio and a workshop, with other facilities in the pipeline.

We host a wide variety of events including gigs, exhibitions, workshops and classes which I'll post as events as they come up. These include a free music programme for young people, life drawing and painting classes, a season of photography exhibitions. July also sees the Sonica FM residency at New River Studios. More information can be found on our website (www.newriverstudios.com) or Facebook page (www.facebook.com/newriverstudioslondon).

New River Studios is a not-for-profit CIC. All the money we make goes back into the project, to maintain and where possible, to improve the facilities.

Feel free to ask any questions, or even better come and do it in person. We're open 10am to 11pm on weekdays, and noon till midnight at weekends.

A quick correction:

Sorry!

Hi Pav - great, we look forward to meeting you - the cafe is open every day from 10am until 6pm, at which point it transforms itself into a bar which is open until 11pm.

Hi Ellis, you mention free workshops for young people. Do the kids on Tiverton know about these opportunities? I haven't seen any advertising on Tiverton Road about them nor about the Café. It may be worth popping up a poster or dropping leaflets. I'm not sure that the local community necessarily use or are aware of HOL. Cheers.

Hi Norah - you're quite right, we've been learning that nothing beats posters and leaflets - most of the recruitment happened through youth centres and schools last time round, mainly because the Rehearsal Rooms project was aimed at sixteen to eighteen - but we're going to run a few open sessions over the Summer Holidays which will be perfect for the Tiverton kids - thanks for the good advice - I appreciate it.

Community cohesion and all that, also there may be adults over here interested in some of the classes, the cafe and bar. I'll come and see you soon, we have said hi, you had the lovely 3 legged dog, yeah? :)

Ah yes, that's right. I remember. Great. See you soon.

i got to know this cool little place when the last Warehouse film festival was running a few months back. The bar/cafe people are very friendly and I can definitely recommend their cocktails and menu. At first it feels a bit hard to find cos that end of the road seems deserted but just keep going to almost the end of Eade Road towards Seven Sisters. it IS WORTH it. Go on, go on, go orn.

It's easy to reach by getting a 259 or 279 from Manor House towards 7 Sisters.

i'm very interested in this :-) please send me the upcoming events to my email christinaorange@hotmail.co.uk

That website you link to (www.newriverstudios.com) is pretty much unusable - each page takes 30-60 seconds to load - no link to a map etc.

If you want some free advice or a cheap overhaul; please let me know.

I just tried it, Junior, and it seemed to be working fine for me - normal page-load times
